Play With Me Saturday: Kung Fu (Remix)

If you don’t remember playing the classic arcade and Nintendo game,  Kung Fu, through your youth, I don’t know if I want you on my site. I know that sounds hateful and borderline ignorant, but Kung Fu was a gaming staple. You have not lived until you have kicked a bad guy through the floor. From the odd pastel coloring, to the simple as hell play mechanic (kick and jump, repeat until you win) it pretty much set the tone of a slew of copycats that are STILL coming out today. But, much like with all classics, there is just something timeless about this game. And this version, especially. If you have never played Kung Fu, I don’t want you to leave. I take that back. I want you to stay and play it for the first time, and realize all the magic you have been missing. You can thank me, if you want, but that’s not needed.

Ah,  the sweet nostalgia of Kung Fu. It is like riding a ten speed again, or eating a favorite snack from your childhood. Yes, it is freakishly simple and repetitive, but don’t let that turn you off. You see, what is special about this game it is SLIGHTLY remixed, so even for people who played the original and beaten it many times over, this version offers a few surprises.

Just that image alone should entice old-school players to try this game atleast once.

Yeah, I am already talking too much. Allow me to shut up and just let you play this game. It is tough at first (like all old-school games) but stick with it, once you start getting weapons and power-ups (from floating Mario coin boxes on balloons, no less) it makes the game ten times more fun.

” Punch, kick, it’s all in the mind…”

Sometimes, on a Saturday, there is nothing better to do than curl up with an old flame    old game from your youth and remind yourself just how sucky you have gotten at games like this.

And honestly, try to make it as far as you can. Some of the real bat-shit crazy stuff doesn’t appear until the last few levels. But from Cameos to killer new moves, it is well worth the work to get there,
